The second meeting of the Academic Council of the University of Chakwal was held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, in the university’s seminar hall. Those present included Professor Dr. Muhammad Bilal Khan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Chakwal; Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmad, Registrar of the University of Chakwal; Professor Dr. Nasir Mehmood, Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad; Professor Dr. Azra Yasmin, Acting Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi; Professor Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz Arif, former Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and former Vice Chancellor of Government College University, Faisalabad; Professor Dr. Gulistan Raja from the University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila; Dr. Rehmat Ullah, Associate Professor at the International Islamic University, Islamabad; Ansar-ul-Elahi, Director (Planning & Budget), DPI Colleges, Lahore; Mr. Muhammad Naeem, Deputy Secretary, Higher Education Department, Lahore; and the Heads of all academic departments of the University of Chakwal. During the meeting, it was decided to increase the number of faculties at the University of Chakwal from six to eight. Consequently, the total number of departments has risen from twenty to forty-one. The newly established departments include Entomology, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Environmental Sciences, Archaeology, and Fine Arts, among others. The Academic Council also approved the commencement of MPhil programs in the departments of Economics, Mathematics, Zoology, Urdu, and Islamic Studies. In accordance with the latest directives of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), the curricula of all academic programs were revised. Furthermore, it was decided that the English courses taught across various departments would be reviewed in line with modern academic and professional requirements. The meeting also approved regulations concerning Semester Rules, Endowment Fund, Payment and Refund of Fees and Funds, and Merit-Based Scholarships.
